Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Party

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to begin their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his own means, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then paid off his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants revenge.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the team reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.

This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the players to form the Explorers and Schemers parties.

Viewers can expect discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
